Using WinRAR, you can compress your files or extract a compressed file and manage the files and folders available in your computer. But its utility is not limited to this only but its scope is much bigger than this.
In today's article, we will learn in detail about the sub-menu options that appear by clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR. Here we are trying to present to you the detailed information of each option and the ways to use them. I am sure that our article will help you a lot while using WinRAR.
Use of "Add File to Archive" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Add File to Archive" appears as the first option available in the sub-menu. This option can also be started by pressing Alt and A buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
Using this option of WinRAR, you can add files and folders to a new or existing archive. When you select this option, a new window opens in front of you. Where you can configure settings like archive name, compression method, splitting and password settings.
Using "Extract to a Specified Folder" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Extract to a Specified Folder" appears as the second option available in the sub menu. This option can also be started by pressing Alt and E buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
Using this option, you can set to extract archive files to a specific folder. For this, first of all you have to select the folder in which you want to keep your extracted files. Once set, WinRAR extracts files only in the folder you have set.
Using "Test Archived Files" in WinRAR:
Clicking on the command option available in the WinRAR menu shows "Test Archived Files" as the third option available in the sub-menu. This option can also be invoked by pressing Alt and T buttons on the keyboard simultaneously.
By selecting this option in WinRAR, you can test your archive files. With the help of this option, you can find out whether your file can be extracted successfully or not, or you can find out whether your file is corrupted or not. By selecting this option, WinRAR checks the integrity of the archive and reports any errors.
Using "View File" in WinRAR:
Clicking on the command option available in the WinRAR menu shows "View File" as the fourth option available in the sub-menu. This option can also be started by pressing Alt and V buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
Using this option, you can check the files available inside a compressed file without extracting it. For this, WinRAR uses an internal viewer through which you can view the file without extracting it.
Using "Delete File" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Delete File" appears as the fifth option available in the sub-menu. This option can be used by pressing the del button of the keyboard.
Using this option, you can easily delete archive files. To do this, you first have to select the file you want to delete. Then click on this option. By doing this, your archive file gets permanently deleted.
Use of "Rename File" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Rename File" appears as the sixth option available in the sub-menu. This option can be used by pressing the F2 button of the keyboard.
Using this option, you can change the names of your compressed files. To do this, first of all you have to select the file whose name you want to change. Then this option has to be selected. By doing this, you get the option to write a new name for the compressed file. As soon as you give a new name to your file and click on the Save command, WinRAR renames the file selected by you.
Use of "Print File" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Print File" appears as the seventh option available in the sub-menu. This option can be used by pressing the Ctrl and I buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
Using this option you can print your archive files. To do this, first you have to select those archive files in WinRAR which you want to print. Then by clicking on this option, the file selected by you gets printed.
Using "Extract Without Confirmation" in WinRAR:
Clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR shows "Extract Without Confirmation" as the eighth option available in the sub-menu. This option can be accessed by pressing Alt and W buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
If you do not want the confirmation message to appear repeatedly while compressing the files, then you can use this option. This feature is more useful for you when you want to bypass the confirmation message while extracting repeatedly.
Using "Add Archive Comment" in WinRAR:
Clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR shows "Add Archive Comment" as the ninth option available in the sub-menu. This option can be accessed by pressing Alt and M buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
If you want to add a message to the file while compressing the files so that the user gets your message regarding the file while extracting the file, then you can select this option. With the help of this option, you can add additional information or notes about the archive. This additional information or notes will be displayed when the user tries to extract your file.
Use of "Protect Archive from Damage" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Protect Archive from Damage" appears as the tenth option available in the sub-menu. This option can be used by pressing Alt and P buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
You can use this option to protect your compressed file from getting damaged. Selecting this option allows WinRAR to add a recovery record to your file. This feature helps in protecting the archive from corruption and allows you to recover corrupted archives.
Use of "Lock Archive" in WinRAR:
By clicking on the command option available on the menu of WinRAR, "Lock Archive" appears as the eleventh option available in the sub-menu. This option can be used by pressing Alt and L buttons of the keyboard simultaneously.
By using this option of WinRAR, you can lock your compressed file. If you select this option in your compressed files, then the user will not be able to make any changes in your file. Neither any new file can be added nor the existing files can be deleted in the locked compressed file.
